The Eye department at Birmingham Children’s Hospital is made up of a team of specialists: including consultant ophthalmologists, registrars, orthoptists, nurses and optometrists.
The aims of the department are for our patients to:
- Achieve the best possible vision
- Develop the use of both eyes as far as possible
- Achieve a good cosmetic appearance
The department is a national centre for the treatment of retinoblastoma (a cancer of the eye).
Our aim is to provide high-quality eye care and to go above and beyond the standards set out by the Department of Health.
Families, children and young people coming to Birmingham Children’s Hospital for eye treatment can expect expert care and support as our eye professionals are highly experienced.
The department sees children from all over the UK, both as inpatients and outpatients.
