Spiritual care is important for many people in hospital.
Giving religious and spiritual care, as well as being available just to listen, is the role of the Chaplaincy team.
The team is multi-faith (not just covering one religion) and is here to help children, their families, their wider community and hospital staff whether they belong to a particular religious group or not. This support is available 24-hours a day. Their office is on the first floor opposite PICU. The Chaplaincy Team is made up of chaplains from the following religions:
- Christian (Church of England, Free Church, Roman Catholic)
- Muslim
- Sikh
- Buddhist
- Hindu
There is normally a Chaplain on-site between 8 am and 4 pm on weekdays and we are available for on-call for emergencies at other times via the ward staff or switchboard. We are offer support to children, parents, wider family and friends and staff
We have several places for quiet prayer and all can be found on the first floor:
- Christian Chapel
- Muslim Prayer Room
- Multi-faith Quiet Room
Chaplains are available on the wards and units and can also be seen by appointment.
Services / prayers are held weekly. Timings can be found outside places of worship. These places of prayer are open 24 hours a day. The Chapel also has a children’s area. You are very welcome to ask us any questions or send us requests for prayers via the email address below.
In an emergency please go through your ward staff who will know how to contact us quickly.
We would welcome any comments on the services we provide.
