Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is on the lookout for one new Governor from Birmingham or Solihull and two new Governors from the Black Country, to help shape the future of its two hospitals.

Nominations open today (Monday 20 March) to anyone over the age of 16 who has a vested interest in Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Birmingham Women’s Hospital. The successful candidate will have a say in key Trust decisions, play a role in representing the views of the people of the area they represent and hold the Non-Executive Directors of the Trust to account.

The Trust is also recruiting six Patient and Carer Governors. These roles are available to someone who is either a current or former patient or a parent/carer of a current or former patient from the last five years at either Birmingham Children’s or Birmingham Women’s Hospitals.

The Council of Governors meets formally four times per year and the successful new recruit will also be expected to attend two meetings every year with the Board of Directors. During these meetings, the Council of Governors discusses the performance and finances of the Trust and its future plans.

For more information on what the role of a Governor involves and what support is offered please see www.bwc.nhs.uk/about-us/our-governors/.

Alternatively please email bwc.foundationtrustoffice@nhs.net or call 0121 333 8433. Nomination forms can be obtained by emailing ftnominationenquiries@electoralreform.co.uk.

The closing date for all nominations is midday on Wednesday 19 April and voting will begin in May.
