A huge thank-you for all of your support and help during the recent cold snap

Over the past few days, we have been overwhelmed by the support we have received from the public who have come forward to volunteer their help in providing transport for our dedicated staff who would have been unable to get to and from our hospital due to the severe conditions.

After appealing through our social media channels for help, more than 200 people from across the region with 4x4 vehicles got in touch to assist members of our teams with their journeys.

Thanks to these acts of kindness and generosity, around 50 of our staff from across our Trust have been able to make their shifts over the last few days – meaning they could continue to provide the very best care and support for our women, children and families.

Sarah-Jane Marsh, Chief Executive of Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, said:

"The severe weather has posed challenges but we've been both humbled and overwhelmed by the response to our appeals. We can't thank everyone who has helped enough. We're so grateful.

"That community spirit has also been matched by the dedication and commitment shown by our teams across our Trust. I've heard so many inspiring stories, including many colleagues who have gone above and beyond to ensure they were here to care for our patients and families. I am just so proud."
