Birmingham Children's Hospital is committed to ensuring that the ‘Prevention and Control of Infection’ is amongst one of our top priorities and we continue to strive to ensure that there are effective systems in place to prevent and control healthcare associated infection.

The Infection Prevention and Control Team, consists of the Director of Infection Prevention and Control, Consultant Microbiologists (including the designated Infection Control Doctor), a team of Specialist Nurses and Administrative Support.

The Health and Social Care Act (2008) Code of Practice for the NHS on the Prevention and Control of Healthcare Associated Infections and related guidance - Also known as the Hygiene Code is legislation that helps to ensure that organisations provide clean, safe care.
