Living with cancer
Meet some staff, patients and families to find out why life on the oncology ward of Birmingham Children's Hospital is far from dull.
The ward sees around 200 children every year who are suspected of having a form of cancer. The diagnosis of cancer can have a very big effect on the children and their families and the hospital has a support system to help them through their journey, helping many to make a full recovery after treatment.
The atmosphere on the ward is happy and children are encouraged to bring their own games from home as well as using the toys and electronic games available on the ward.
It's very much a family atmosphere, with lots of smiles and laughter.
