    Professor Moss has worked at Birmingham Children’s Hospital since 1990. She is now semi-retired but still enjoys doing occasional clinics, helping younger colleagues and teaching junior doctors. She is a great believer in patients and families getting together to learn from one another, and works with several Patient Support Groups. She and her husband love travelling, and she often goes abroad to give lectures and meet skin doctors working in other countries. She has 3 grown-up children, and likes gardening in her spare time.

    Dr Tina Newton is a Consultant in the Emergency Department and Trust Lead for the Major Trauma Service at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. She has been a consultant in the NHS for 11 years, having worked for the first seven of this in a large University teaching hospital as a Children’s Emergency and Children’s Intensive Care Consultant.

    When I’m not managing the department, I work with children on the wards who have difficulties with their feeding and swallowing and/or communication. I also carry out a procedure called a videofluoroscopy in radiology which is where we take x-rays of you eating and drinking.

    Outside of work I like to exercise and take part in sporting challenges to raise money for charity. So far I have run the London Marathon, cycled from Lands End to John O’Groats and completed a half Ironman.

    Mr Parashar was appointed as a consultant urologist in 1994 – He is now the elder statesman of the department. His special interests include hypospadias and management of neuropathic bladder patients. He was responsible for setting up the urodynamics unit which includes video urodynamics and five specialist nurses who support the work of the department and help manage the neuropathic patients in particular.
